Lime Purse Preview

Okay. So I haven't touched my sewing machine in a few days. It is feeling neglected. I have been crocheting this pretty purse whenever I get a minute to spare. It will be finished tomorrow and I can cut FABRIC. I love fabric. It is sooo much quicker to work with.

This will be my first completed purse. I have one sitting beside my bed that needs to be sewn together, not to mention the lining. I'm just not sure on how to do that one. This one will be a simple squared off purse. Similar to the "jordy", for all of you craftster peeps.

I am going to put hot pink on the inside to contrast with the lime. I also have this cool ribbon weird stuff, you'll have to see it, that I might put around the top. I haven't decided just yet.

Better get off to bed now. I have some work to do tomorrow. Not to mention tax season will be upon us before you know it. I have to get the w-4's ready to go out. That's fun, huh.

Wacky Stuff Site

Wow. I will never look at stuff the same way again. You have got to check out this site. It has some of the coolest ideas. Never would have thought of using Coke to clean my toilet, but I'm here to let you know, IT WORK'S.

Here is his list of products. You can just click on them to see what they are also good for.

Chapstick. More than a few uses. Guess it just makes a good lubrication.
Vodka. This one is for all you drinkers out there. You know who you are.
Now you can say you are buying it for gardening. Check it out.

Here is his list of weird facts.

Me being a owner and lover of parakeets. I had to check out the seed file. Wow. This stuff would be good for trivia questions.
Crayons. I didn't know that had been around for that long.

The Flower Garden

Oh, the flower garden is finished. All that is left to do is smell and enjoy. This garden lasts forever and never needs weeding. Got to love that.

This is in my dd's bedroom. It is finally finished and painted. Tomorrow I will move her in. Just in time for Santa. She keeps on saying her room smells so goood, but how did she get all those bugs in there? Don't know if you can see them, but there are caterpillars ever so often, along with the butterflies. You know, that way we have more butterflies later.

Her First Work

Here is my dd's first ever sewn piece of work. At least I think you can call it sewn. The strap is paper and it is taped on. Yes, taped. She also painted the front and put it in the freezer to dry. Don't know where she got that idea?

Also, here is a picture of her hard at work. She has been on the sewing machine for about two hours just sewing a straight line. I can't even begin to tell you how much fabric she has used. If only I could get her to dig in the scrap pile, not the full yard stash.

Yahoo Groups

How many of you fine people are involved in online yahoo groups? I belong to too many. I just love them all though. I thought I would list a few of my favorites.

Sewing Gifts On Time These people have the best stuff. They are really talented. We do sewn gifts for others or ourselves and post them. This really helps to get ideas and to keep up on track.

Sewing Purses For Fun These people do sewn purses. Wether they be the placemat, drink pouch, or the unordinary. They also are talented. Even some people from East Tennesse, where I am from, are members. So cool.

CraftCycle This is where you can post stuff you need for crafts. Or you can post what you need to get rid of. All free of course. You can send money for shipping.

Crochet and Pattern Trading Name says it all. These guys have helped me out more times than I care to mention. They have found and mailed me an old pattern for this doll my memaw made me before she passed away.

You guys will have to check out some groups and let us know what you like.

New Singer

My dd got an early Christmas present from her grandma. It was just what she wanted and needed. Her very own Singer sewing machine, miniaturized.

I had to go today and buy it batteries. So, she has yet to sew with it. I will have to post her first making. She told me she wants to sew paper. This is from the other day. We sewed pieces of paper together and made trees and stars. Cute.

Has to have a face

My dd says that all dolls have to have a face. After seeing my sunbonnet sue doorstop, she had to go dig up the one I made her a few years ago. I take a better look at it, since she ran off with it. And, what do I see? Eyes, nose, and a mouth. OMG.

I guess it is her's. She can do with it what she wants. But, I still think they don't need to have a face.

Cigarette Case

So, another present is done. This one was a dozie. <-----how in the heck do you spell that?---- Anyway, I had to do a pattern for this one. I just couldn't find one anywhere. I hope she likes it.

The case is big enough to hold cigarettes and a lighter. My son informed me that she carried her cigs in a case. So, needing another gift for her, I thought what the heck
.

Sunbonnet Sue

Isn't she lovely?

Believe it or not, she is a DOORSTOP.

I made her as a present for my mil. I hope she likes her, because I really like her. I now am going to have to make a few for here.

She has a 2-liter bottle of sand under her skirt.

If you want the pattern for her, you have to join freepatterns.com. It is totally free. Just go to sewing and she is there. You do have to have the Adobe Acrobat to see all of their patterns, but even it is free. Gotta love that.

Kids are funny

Okay, so today the kids and I had this discussion about who's birthday is coming up in a week. Yes, baby Jesus. Well, they wanted to send him a card. But ??? what is His address? They thought maybe if they tied it to a balloon? Maybe they could put it in the mail and the mailman would make it fly? Who knows????

Plus, I now have to come up with some cool birthday cake for him. I am not sure what His favorite flavor is. Do you know? Please help.

P.S. This was my two younger kids. The oldest would never have gotten into that discussion. Much too mature. LOL

Thread Catcher

OMG This is the coolest thing ever.

I have been wanting to make one of these things forever. I bought the tile a few weeks ago. It has been freezing to death in my car. Finally brought it in. Then came the fabric. I had to have some really cool fabric, since I will be looking at this thing all the time. OMG. I went to my fabric stash and found the coolest fabric. I bought it over a year ago and didn't know what to do with it. Well, I finally figured it out. Perfect for this job. Two different fabs for the perfect job.

On the top it even has a removable needle pin holder. I put in a 2-liter bottle bottom. This way you can just dump out your snippets.

I got this idea from a few places. Mainly on this yahoo group I am involved in. They are the friendliest folks.

WHY? WHY? WHY?

This was in an email I received...

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteriesare getting weak?

Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Why doesn't glue stick to the bottle?

Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?

Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"?

If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?

How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, "It's all right?" Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, "That hurt, you stupid idiot?"

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

And my FAVORITE......

The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you.

Comments

OMG. I can't believe it. I actually have comments on my blog. I wasn't actually even sure anyone ever looked at it. It makes me feel good.

Thanks.

Latest Finishings

Okay. So ALL the gifts for the teachers are completed and delivered as of this afternoon. Whew! Here is a pic of the few I had out when I remembered to snap a pic. The record bowls have a vinyl bottom to keep everything in place.

I also managed to finished another gift this morning. It is a record clock for my hubby's aunt. It is out of a Foghat record. Not quite sure who they are, but I hear she likes them. So. This clock took all of about five minutes. Quick and simple

The Ferret

Well, here she is. I believe at last count, her name is SHADOW. Austin thinks she is the cutest thing in the world. I think she is the smelliest. UGH.

Frog Bag Bag

While I was up late last night, I also got another one of my grandma's presents finished. My brother was the one who suggested I make her one of these. I gave them away as presents last year. I guess she got missed.

Anyway, she is into frogs. This is the reason behind the fabric I chose. The froggy scraps now reside in my son's new ferret cage. I made a hammock for it. (Later post I am sure.)

My new Furry Bag

OKAY.... I made this as a present for my sil who lives far away. Well, I have decided to give it to my mother. Or, maybe I will keep it for myself. Who knows? I am definitely making some more. I know a few more people who would love to have something similar.

Here she is folks, don't go getting all jealous.

I even put a fur detail on the pocket. Am I cleaver or what.

Sewing up a storm

I had a great day yesterday at the table. I got sooo many gifts finished. One I will not post a pic of because fear of her seeing this. Here are a few pics of the stuff I finished yesterday...

Here is some stuff I finished a few days before...

I can't believe Christmas is just around the corner. Where did all of the time go. Abigail only has one week of school left before her vacation. The boys have a week and three days. I hope after the big day, we can all go over the mountain and stay at the casino hotel. Not to gamble of course, us anyway. My hubby will be playing and we will be staying.

I still have some more gifts to make. I'm not quite sure on what to make Abigail's three other teachers. Yes, I did say three. I made her main teacher the purse above. I do hope she will like it. I am completely lost on the others. I was going to do something with photos, but no one had a pic with all of the kids. Darn it. Any ideas?

My NEW Tree

Finally, I got the hubby to let me purchase a new fake tree. This is the first white tree I have ever had. I just love it. It makes all of my last year ornaments look brand new
.
When I told my grandmother about my white tree, she told me about her first. 1961. She said was when they first came out. I haven't checked that out. I'll have to take her word for it. She said she just had to have one. She bought a bunch of strands of lights so she could pluck them off and make a strand of blue lights. I'm so glad you can buy them in a single color now. I wouldn't have went through the trouble.

Well, I love my tree. We should all get together and post pictures of our trees. LOL corny , huh.

Productive Day of Sewing

Well, I had a very busy day at the sewing table.

My mother had asked me to make her some more aprons for work. I managed to finish two and repair the one she gave me as a guide. I hope she likes them. I can't believe how well they turned out.

My aunt wanted a Christmas curtain for her front door. She gave me some material and the measurements and I went to work. I do believe that is the best one so far. It seems to be perfectly square. The first curtain I ever made was, well, let's say NOT square. lol

From the ashes of the curtain, I made my dd a new outfit for one of her many Cabbage Patch Dolls. She got a red shirt with a tree on it and a dress of santa fabric. She loved it so much, I had to take a picture of her with the doll. It doesn't take much to make your kids happy.

Well, I have so much more to sew. People are wanting their purses before Christmas. See ya'll later.
